Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart

Lucile's object

I'm a real book lover. I read all the time. There are thousands of books I have loved, but one has particularly touched me.

Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart is a french book written by Mathieu Malzieu. It is very short, but it took me several days to read it, even if I'm able to read a five hundred pages book in a few days. I read it slowly because it was write in a way that I loved very, very much.

This book talks about a boy, Jack, who was born in Edinburg, on the coldest day of the world. Her mother was a prostitue who didn't want to keep him. She gave birth thanks to a woman, Madeleine, who kept Jack. But when he was born, his heart was frozen because of the cold. Madeleine replaced his heart with an old clock. When he grew up, Madeleine explained to Jack that he should respect three rules to stay alive : he must never touch the hands of the clock, he must never lose his temper, and the most important rule : he must never fall in love. But on his birthday, Jack wanted to go in town with Madeleine, she accepted. He met a girl, called Miss Acacia, who was dancing and singing. Obviously, he fell in love with her, and during all his life, he would try to find her.

I loved this book because first, love stories are my favourite. I love dramatic stories, because I'm very sensitive and empathic. The way Jack's feelings were explained in that book made me feel the same, and the author used beautiful words and technics in his book. I would read it a thousand times again in my life. I recommend it to anyone who read this text, and I hope you will love it as much as I do.
